My Feminist Agenda
Building a business, as a feminist, means that you get to create your own economic destiny built on principles that you think are fair, humanistic, and sustainable.
Do NOT bow at the altar of profit and the hustle culture.
Instead, learn how to define your own version of success and design a lifestyle that prioritizes using the freedom you’ve build as your own boss.
To me, personally, being a feminist founder means you:
Build and grow a business based on your personal and political values
Understand that feminism must be intersectional
Prioritize accessibility by making your website and content accessible to folks of all abilities
Authenticity represent yourself on social profiles and the way you sell your offerings and use thoughtful tone sensitivity
Wholeheartedly believe in community over competition and strive to lift others while you climb
Understand that you are not your business and it does NOT define your worth
Believe you don’t need to compromise your values in order to be successful
Place firm boundaries on your time in order to protect the most valuable asset to your business: your energy
Once profitable, donate part of your time, skills, or revenue to make positive contributions to your community
Honor your intuition and refer to it as your most trusted business advisor
Believe that toxic capitalism is a form of oppression in our society
Create your own definition of success that isn’t tied to productivity or the number of zeros in your income, it’s instead based on your happiness and life goals
Demonstrate empathy when leading and treat your team with the respect and kindness they deserve
Pay all of your team members an ethical, living wage
What makes me different from other coaches?
I combine feminine woo with a masculine work ethic
I don’t judge your own definition of success
I truly believe that ending your reliance on the corporate world is one of the most liberating things you can experience in life. Why fight the corporate patriarchy when you can have your own venture on your own time and on your own terms?
How I embody feminism in my life and business:
Hiring + Money
When hiring, I strive to bring in candidate from different backgrounds and cultures
I pay everyone — house cleaner, virtual assistant, etc. a MINIMUM of a living wage
I donate 3% of my annual profits to charities that forward feminist agendas with a lens of intersectionality
I always offer payment plans for any of my services
Accessibility
All content on my website and social platforms have ALT text for screen readers
All videos I create have subtitles
I hire or ensure an ASL translator is available to attend all of my live events or retreats, should the need arise
Solidarity and Accountability
I do not support, follow, or associate with companies or brands that infantilize women in business or use scarcity, toxic positivity, fake authority, and other weaponized white femininity sales tactics since this is just unchecked capitalism in heels (ex. Girl Boss, Thinx, “fempreneur”, “she-e-o”, Bali Babes, FLEBs, etc.)
I have pledged not to speak at online or in-person events or on podcasts where the speakers are, or have been, disproportionately white and cis-gendered
I believe in always giving credit where credit it due
Whenever possible, I strive to use apps and tools made by companies founded by feminists, women, BIPOC and make ethical purchasing decisions
I value constructive criticism and make an effort to process it, learn from it, and integrate it back into my life and work
I do not support multi-level marketing (MLM) companies because I believe they are predatory in nature (if you come at me hawking essential oils or leggings, I will throw them back at you)
